Janet Meisner is a friend of Vanessa Huxtable. She is played by Pam Potillo. Of all of the friends Vanessa had in the series, it can safely be said Janet is her closest friend. She has at least one brother, who lives somewhere near Baltimore.
Janet appeared ten times during the run of the show. Her first appearance was in Season 1's Vanessa's New Class, where she and Vanessa both entered their school science fair. In this episode, it was revealed her father was an engineer. Vanessa is initially jealous that Janet's project was better than hers, which causes Janet to want to leave. Cliff , however , was able to smooth things over with Vanessa and the two became friends again.
In Season 3's Calling Doctor Huxtable and Season 4's The Locker Room, she shows she is attracted to Theo Huxtable, but the two never date.
Her final appearance was in Off to See the Wretched.
